Bastardilla: A Handwritten Font That Elevates Your Creative Projects

Bastardilla for Candle Labels and Cozy Branding

When I first tested Bastardilla, the Script Handwritten font by deFharo, it was on a candle label mockup. I wanted something that felt warm, inviting, and just a little bit personal—perfect for a handmade candle line with a cozy aesthetic. The moment I applied Bastardilla to the label, I knew this was the right choice. Its smooth concatenated style gave the text a natural flow, like someone writing with a steady hand and a touch of elegance.

The Bastardilla font comes with 2 full sets of Capital letters and 3 sets of lowercase letters, including one with terminal letters swashes. This variety made it easy to create a label that looked both professional and handwritten. I used the swash version for the main title and the standard lowercase for the scent name. It created a nice contrast without being too busy.

For candle labels, readability is key, especially when the text is small. I found that Bastardilla performed well at smaller sizes, but I did need to make sure the spacing was adjusted slightly to avoid any overlapping strokes. Overall, it added a soft, artisanal feel that perfectly matched the product.

Bastardilla for Wedding Invitations and Elegant Branding

Next up, I tried using Bastardilla for a wedding invitation design. Weddings are all about creating an emotional connection, and this Fonts choice helped set the tone. The handwritten look of Bastardilla brought a sense of intimacy and personalization that’s hard to achieve with more formal fonts.

I paired Bastardilla with a clean sans serif font for the event details, which kept the layout balanced. The combination worked beautifully, giving the invitation a modern yet romantic vibe. The swash versions of the capital letters were especially effective for the names and date, adding a touch of sophistication.

One thing to note is that while Bastardilla is great for short phrases and decorative wording, it might not be ideal for long paragraphs or dense information. For the wedding invitation, I used it sparingly, keeping it as a display font rather than for the body text. This approach maintained clarity while still achieving the desired visual appeal.

Bastardilla for Sticker Sheets and Boutique Packaging

As a creator who makes sticker sheets for boutique packaging, I needed a font that would stand out but also maintain a cohesive brand identity. Bastardilla fit the bill perfectly. Its unique personality shone through on each sticker, making them feel handcrafted and exclusive.

I experimented with different variations of the font across various sticker designs. The lowercase set with terminal letters swashes worked exceptionally well for taglines and quotes, while the standard lowercase was better suited for product names and descriptions. The two sets of capital letters allowed me to vary the look depending on the sticker's purpose.

When it came to packaging, I used Bastardilla on the front of the sticker sheet box. It immediately caught the eye and communicated the handmade, artistic nature of the product. I also made sure to check the commercial font licensing before selling these stickers, which was an important step in ensuring compliance.

Another consideration when using Bastardilla for physical products is how it looks when printed. I found that printing it on matte paper enhanced the handwritten feel, while glossy finishes gave it a more polished appearance. Both options worked well, depending on the intended aesthetic.

Bastardilla for Digital Printables and Social Media Graphics

Finally, I tested Bastardilla on some digital printables and social media graphics. As someone who creates content for online shops and digital downloads, I needed a font that could translate well to screen and print. Bastardilla proved to be a versatile choice, working seamlessly across different platforms.

On social media, I used Bastardilla for captions and promotional posts. The font's charm helped increase engagement, as it felt more personal and authentic. For digital printables like planners and wall art, I used the font for headings and decorative elements, pairing it with a simple serif font for a balanced look.

I also checked the file formats included with Bastardilla to ensure they were suitable for both digital and print use. The availability of multiple styles and alternates made it easy to customize the font for different projects without needing additional assets.

In summary, Bastardilla is a Script Handwritten font that brings creativity and character to any project. Whether you're designing labels, invitations, stickers, or digital content, this font can help elevate your work and leave a lasting impression on your audience.
